Jeff helped us tremendously with training our new rescue puppy. He came right to the house and worked with the entire family to help us train the puppy properly. We loved the fact that he used only positive reinforcement. We had weekly sessions and we practiced what we learned all week. We will continue to have refresher sessions.

Tyler is a terrific trainer, very patient and knowledgeable. He is highly responsive and professional and we love his positive reinforcement approach. He has taught us thoughtful day to day tips for life with our dog, as well as practical training tools that we will continue to implement throughout our dog’s life. We have been working with Tyler from Leading The Leash training services for a couple of months to train a very smart but stubborn Jack Russell. Leading The Leash truly understands dogs’ psychological underpinnings and works with that understanding to train with kindness, compassion and positive reinforcement. Voices are never raised, nor are there ever any punishments. From the onset, to set expectations, Tyler states it’s going to take a lot of patience and time. It’s truly worth it as we see the progress in our dog daily. I highly recommend and am confident in Leading the Leash training. Jeff and Tyler have a unique approach as they focus on improving human/animal caregiving through knowledge and practice and use of positive reinforcement in training dogs. They are both extremely professional and travel to great lengths to train us humans along with our dog. They helped me with my dog’s very aggressive behavior, and changed his demeanor completely. You can see the passion in what they do.

There are truly no words to describe the experience we have had with Jeff and Tyler at Leading the Leash. Their ability to engage with dogs in a way that seems so natural and easy is incredible to watch. One of our dogs has always been extremely anxious, distant and afraid of any and all strangers and new places; but you would never know it seeing the way she runs to greet them. Even more impressive than the way they so quickly made her feel comfortable and safe; the way she actively listens, engages and responds to them is something we had never seen before with her. The difference between people who just happen to work with dogs and people who truly understand how a dog behaves and communicates becomes so clear when you see it in action and the results firsthand; and the Leading the Leash team is definitely part of the latter. We can say with absolute certainty that both of our dogs have benefitted immensely from their time with Jeff and Tyler.

We had the privilege to work with Tyler and Jeff for over a year, with multiple different dogs. Training dogs requires experience and patience, and is difficult anywhere, let alone in a city like New York. Tyler and Jeff showed up every week to not only train the dogs but also correct the issues that would arise from the chaotic city environment. They did so with diligence and kindness both to us and the dogs. We worked through house training, aggression issues, separation anxiety, and socialization with other dogs, people, and in stores. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Jeff and Tyler to anyone who needs help with training pets and service dogs from the ground up. Tyler and Jeff were not only there to train the dogs, but also taught us how to interact with them in ways that allowed our dogs to view us as leaders. They were always kind and consistent, and their passion for their profession is truly apparent. We are grateful for their help and feel confident that the skills they have taught us make us better dog owners. We appreciate their hard work and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them.

You will not meet two people who are as devoted to training and loving dogs more than Jeff and Tyler. They have mastered the art of communication with dogs without needing to say a single word. They were readily available when we had any questions and concerns. They were patient when training us and always knew how to fix any and all behavioral issues that arose with the pup. They are exceptional at what they do and superb people who genuinely care about helping those who need it most. 

Jeff was recommended to me by my dog walker because he provided training for many issues. My two year old Ozzie (Cockapoo), was having some behavioral issues that I needed to address but didn’t know how. Jeff not only provided hands-on training for Ozzie, but he really trained me! He helped me understand why Ozzie was doing what he was doing and helped me change my behavior! I was better able to read Ozzie’s behavior, offer corrections in a loving and caring way and make him feel successful enough to be the confident fur baby that he is today! Jeff worked with me every step of the way! This was done in only a few sessions! Even after our sessions, Jeff was available for any questions that I had! I highly recommend Jeff for anyone who is looking for a trainer!

In 2019 my wife and I had a rambunctious Standard Poodle. He was excited about everything at age 9 months. Jeff did 5 sessions with Rory and the results were amazing. We were taught the proper commands and the proper process of rewarding good behavior. It was an extremely positive experience for the dog and for us!
